I Am Not Grumpy !
The book is about a turtle who everyone thinks is grumpy, is actually friendly and merely enjoys spending time alone as well as participating in activities with friends and family. Tired of being misunderstood, he opens up and decides to explain himself, showing children that even friends who seem unapproachable could actually be interested in connecting.
For this project, I wanted the illustrations to have a handmade, textured feeling, so I used printmaking to achieve this. I have experimented with different colours, textures and made different stencils for each element which then I scanned and combined to make the final illustrations. I have used Adobe Photoshop to achieve the final results by changing levels, playing with hue & saturation and drawing some details to make the pages come to life.
